Think of a battery like two water tanks that share the same water.
One tank is the anode, the other is the cathode.
The water is like the lithium that moves back and forth.
💧 When you charge the battery, you pump water uphill into the anode tank.
⚡ When you use the battery, the water flows downhill back to the cathode.
The height difference between the tanks is the voltage of the battery.
Each tank has its own shape (shown in the dQ/dV plot) that tells how much water it can hold at each level.
Over time, the tanks don't stay the same: this is aging.
🪣 Anode aging (LAM-Anode) → the anode tank shrinks.
🪣 Cathode aging (LAM-Cathode) → the cathode tank shrinks.
💦 Lithium loss (LLI) → there's simply less water to move around.
These changes shift the tank levels and make the OCV curve look different.
⚙️ The knobs you can play with:
LAM-Anode → shrink the anode tank
LAM-Cathode → shrink the cathode tank
LLI → reduce the total water
